As a beauty team who all love a fluttery look, we put Merit’s mascara to the test on three different lash lengths

put Merit's mascara

Our team, who are very picky about their lashes, tried Merit’s Clean Lash mascara because they had heard great things about it. It lengthens and adds a subtle colour to lashes. We want to be honest with you about what we think of the popular buy…

We know a lot about the best mascaras

We know a lot about the best mascaras because we’ve tried hundreds of them, from waterproof and volumising formulas to trendy burgundy ones. That being said, we all have different types and lengths of lashes, so what one coworker likes might not work for another. We may have different needs for our exact formula, but we all agree on the finish we want. We want our lashes to look natural (no clumps) and last, with length fanning and lifting. So, when one team member suggested Merit’s Clean Lash because it did all of the above and didn’t smudge or transfer, we couldn’t pass up the chance to try it out as a group.

We had high hopes for this product

We had high hopes for this product because we love many of Merit Beauty’s other products (for example, Digital Beauty Writer Naomi Jamieson swears by the Minimalist Complexion Stick) and many of the best tubing mascaras. So, how did it do when it had to deal with a lot of different lash lengths and checklists?

The honest review of Merit’s Clean Lash mascara by our whole beauty team

Merit is all about keeping things simple as a brand. Their products are meant to be everyday favourites that can be used in many ways and make things better, rather than being very dramatic or high-coverage. We would call the line the “capsule wardrobe of beauty” because each item promises to fill an important role and sometimes more than one. The same goes for their mascara. This is a popular tubing formula that lifts and lengthens without smudging or transferring. This is a great buy for people who like mascara that looks natural.

Fiona McKim our Digital Beauty Editor

Fiona McKim, our Digital Beauty Editor, was already a fan of the formula. After hearing her rave review, we all decided to see if we had the same good experience. So far, we’ve all been drawn to different choices. Aleesha Badkar and Sennen Prickett who both have long lashes, are part of our Beauty Shopping & eCommerce team and love Glossier’s Lash Slick. At the same time Naomi Jamieson, another beauty writer, likes Dior’s Diorshow Pump N Volume Mascara for giving her short, straight lashes more volume overall.

If you’ve been thinking about getting Merit’s mascara

If you’ve been thinking about getting Merit’s mascara but aren’t sure if it will work for you here’s what each of our coworkers thought of it. Of course, there are pictures of the before and after results.

Aleesha Badkar is the Beauty Shopping & eCommerce Editor

“I wouldn’t say I’m a mascara snob, but I know what I like,” says Aleesha Badkar, our Beauty Shopping & eCommerce Editor. “So, even though I secretly liked the sleek, elegant design of this tube, I didn’t have high hopes when I pulled out the bristled mascara wand that looked like it was pretty wet. Thank goodness my favourite makeup brand proved me wrong.”
