I think that nails that go from winter to spring are some of the hardest to do (no pun intended). We’re out of the depths of winter and can look forward to longer days and warmer weather, but it’s not “spring” spring yet (I’m still wearing my winter coat). So, as we move from the colder months to the first days of spring, it can be hard to choose what nail colours and styles to get at our salon appointments.
I guess I’m just getting tired of my dark and moody winter nail colours. I want to try something that feels more like spring but still fits with the season right now. But at the same time, those bright summer and spring nail colours just seem a little too much right now.
So, I’ve decided to go on a beauty editor quest to find the best nail colours and nail art for this time of year. After spending hours going through my feeds, I’ve saved some of the most stylish nail designs that I want to try next. You should too. For all the ideas for your winter-to-spring manicure and the nail polishes you need to get the look at home, scroll down.
1. Blush that is see-through
A short, bright pink manicure with no polish
A sheer pink nail colour is always a stylish choice when you’re not sure what to do (and let’s be honest, you’ll never regret this colour). But why not use a brighter pink to welcome spring? The Manucurist’s Active Glow nail polishes give the nails a fun, fruity wash of colour and make them look healthy and shiny right away. This is great if you want to try a brighter colour without having completely opaque pink nails.

2. Misty Blue
A short manicure in pastel blue
Pastel nails are great for spring, but if they seem too bright for now, why not try a more muted version of the colour? This pastel blue has grey undertones that give it a more laid-back feel, but it still feels like a brighter change from wintery blue and navy nail colours.
3. Lilac Milk: a sheer lilac manicure with a milky finish
Milky manicures are still very popular, but lilac milk nails are a great colour for nails that go from winter to spring. A little bit of lavender will take your wintery milky manicure right into spring while still looking classy and stylish. Choose nail colours that are milky and sheer so that your natural nails show through.
Opi’m a Bubble Bunny Nail Lacquer is one of the nail polishes you can buy.
OPI Nail Lacquer in OPI’m a Bubble Bunny costs £16.
4. Celadon: Nails that are a soft green colour
I love the bright matcha manis that come out in the spring and summer, but if you want a more subtle nail colour to wear for the rest of the month, why not try muted greens instead? Celadon lets you dip your toe into spring greens while still feeling a little bit like winter. This colour is unusual, and it will make everyone notice your nails.
5. French Twist
A short French manicure with green tips in the shape of a French flag
I’m saving the bright and colourful French tips for my summer nail art. For now, though, I like having a little colour on my tips to help them go from winter to spring. This olive green French is my favourite. It will last me until spring and beyond.
