The herpetologists followed a strange set of looping tracks through the reeds that looked like heavy machinery had rolled through overnight. Their knees were wet, and the dark mud was pulling their boots down. One researcher stopped, squatted down, and ran a hand along the mark that was close to the bank. The track was big. Too big Ten minutes later, they saw her again.
