If you’ve noticed that more and more perfumes have come out in the last few months that say they were inspired by the stars, you’ve just picked up on one of the biggest fragrance trends of 2026. But the stories behind these scents are linked to something that very few people have actually done (like going to space). So, what goes into making a heavenly perfume, and which ones are worth the money?
I’m going to answer both questions below with the help of two experts in the field: the fragrance manager for Givaudan, a global leader in scent development, and the founder of a viral brand that made a successful cosmic fragrance that caught my eye. Find out what ingredients perfumers use to make some of the most addictive space-themed scents on the market. Then, shop the 16 that make me feel like I’m in space.
What are heavenly scents?
Kyle Ferguson, Creative Fragrance Manager at Givaudan, says that perfumers and brands use a wide range of ingredients to bring to mind cosmic and celestial bodies. “We all know what “solar” notes are: they are things that remind us of the sun, like orange flowers, ylang-ylang, and bright citrus like lemon. Ferguson says that perfumers can also use sparkling aldehydes as top notes that are bright, shiny, or metallic. He also talks about other notes that often show up in these very atmospheric perfumes, like sparkly aldehydes (which can be used as stellar, shiny, or metallic top notes) and smokey notes like frankincense and incense to give them a mysterious, ancient, spiritual nuance.”
He also talks about how musks, violets, or orris notes can be used in perfumes to make a glow that is cloud-like, ethereal, and enveloping. He says, “The amazing thing about perfumery is that you can approach any idea, no matter how abstract, through many channels and use many different ingredients to tell the story the client wants the consumer to hear.” Lake & Skye just came out with 11 11 Moon, a celestial perfume that used a lot of these notes. Courtney Somer, the founder of Lake & Skye, told us how they made the airy, moon-like effect.
Somer says that 11 11 Moon Eau de Parfum ($105) was inspired by “the quiet, in-between moments—the stillness that brings clarity.”” This new scent is a softer, more luminous version of the brand’s popular 11 11 Eau de Parfum ($105). It was made to smell fresh, airy, and quietly radiant. Somer says, “The development focused on keeping the emotional signature of 11 11 while exploring a more ethereal, reflective dimension—creating a scent that invites you to pause, reset, and reconnect.” Continue reading to find 15 more scents that are definitely heavenly, from the way they smell to the way their bottles look.
Lake & Skye 11 11 Moon Eau de Parfum Lake & Skye 11 11 Mon Eau de Parfum
11 11 Moon Eau de Parfum by Lake & Skye costs $105.
Type of scent: citrus woods. Notes: Italian bergamot orpur, cedrat orpur, lemon zest, coconut shavings, sparkling aldehydes, sheer jasmine, coumarin, cedarwood, upcycled Haitian vetiver orpur, cashmeran musk, and warm amber.
Somer says that to get the glow of moonlight, the Lake & Skye team focused on notes that felt light instead of heavy. “Bright citrus opens the scent, and a unique mix of aldehydes gives it a bubbly sparkle that makes it smell fresh and almost glowing,” Somer says. She says that the scent is unique because the combination of coconut shavings and aldehydes makes it soft but still strong.”It doesn’t melt into the skin like a regular musk; instead, it radiates outward, making it airy, intimate, and quietly magnetic,” she says.
Customer Review: “It changes the crisp, laundry-fresh smell of Lake & Skye 11 Eau de Parfum to a warmer, more mysterious mix of white amber and earthy musk that sits close to the skin like a sophisticated second layer… If you want to smell like cool moonlight and calm energy while you’re out and about, this is a must-have for your handbag.”
Angel Dust Eau de Parfum $125 SHOP NOW
Woody musk is the scent type, and the notes are clear wood, cashmere, and white amber.
Fugazzi’s Angel Dust Eau de Parfum is a scent that is very soft, sexy, and otherworldly. It has calming notes of clear wood, cashmere, and white amber that come together to make an ethereal blend that feels great on the skin. There is also a creaminess that makes the mix a little bit sweeter. To put it another way, it’s the most heavenly “your skin but better” scent.
Customer Review: “It smells like clouds that have been warmed up by the sun and are slowly moving in the wind.” I think it’s totally unisex. I can’t compare it to something you can touch, but I can compare it to something you can feel, like something that is floating around you. It smells great with your own skin and has a creaminess that can be a little bitter at times, but the two together are amazing.

Green floral scent with notes of bergamot, lemon, orange, rose, jasmine, juniper berry, fir balsam, misk, and ambergris
This Penhaligon’s best-seller was made to pay tribute to the soft, dappled light of the moon with sexy flowers that feel both new and timeless. Orange, jasmine, soft rose, and fir balsam were used to make the dreamy, airy composition. If you like layering scents as much as I do, you might want to get this one in their Body and Hand Wash ($78) and Body and Hand Lotion ($82).
“It’s not a strong scent, but it’s like a mist at moonrise and moonset. The opening has a soft blanket of refreshing citrus that makes me feel as comfortable as a breeze when I wake up at night. It dries down to a dreamlike Greek impressionistic, watercolour moonlit rose garden in silver, blue, and magenta.
